RF Optimization

Mobile telephony networks are expensive - and optimizing them is a must.

When it comes to RF optimization tools, up until now engineers had to rely on in-house utilities that only solve one part of the equation, or analyze the spreadsheets directly. When you have rows and columns of numbers in front of you, it is easy to make a mistake; at best, RF optimization was done through a time-consuming, tedious and error-prone process.

Our brains are not wired to work with rows and columns of numbers. Our brains work best by visualizing.

Solution: WCELLS.mbx, world's best tool
for RF visualization and optimization

RF Visualization with WCELLS.mbx

In a nutshell, WCELLS.mbx dramatically speeds up the decision making process related to a whole range of daily activities related to Mobile Telephony Engineering.

The WCELLS.mbx software assists the telephony personnel in their decision making by presenting the information in the visual rather than a tabular form. It is portable (independent of the information source), flexible (with easy updating and customization) and compatible with all modern technologies.

The graphic presentation of a cell in WCELLS.mbx consists of a Mapinfo region in the shape of a circle (omni cell) or a part of the circle (sector cell), whose center is located at the pair of coordinates (Longitude, Latitude).

The orientation reflects the chosen Azimuth, width of a sector can correspond to Horizontal Antenna Beam Width, and the size of a sector would be according to chosen antenna Size, on the map.

By using WCELLS.mbx, you cut through data to the meaning:

  • Visualize the mobile telephony cells on a map
  • Have accompanying information, parameters, statistics and measurements at your fingertips
  • Avoid costly, time-consuming errors
  • Optimize the mobile network faster and better, with information in visual rather than tabular form

Who should use WCELLS.mbx

WCELLS.mbx is a state-of-the-art visualization tool, easy-to-use and friendly even for users with no prior experience in Mapinfo. WCELLS.mbx is intended to be used by the personnel involved in mobile telephony, primarily:

  • Cell Planning RF Engineers, dealing with PSC and neighbor relations planning (UMTS), (or BSIC, BCCH planning in GSM case), and/or interested in displaying RF and other parameters and neighbor relations in Mapinfo

  • RF Optimization Engineers, dealing with presentation, analysis and troubleshooting of the results of the drive-tests against network settings or/and displaying/analysis/troubleshooting of statistical indicators, and

  • All other personnel, involved in geographical distribution of the sites in any mobile telephony network.
